The 24 Hour Comic Challenge. Never heard of it? Go here to find out more Link!
Draw 24 pages in 24 consecutive hours.
1 hour=1 page
This is the second one I attempted. It is an amazing challenge for any cartoonist. In the true spirit of the 24 Hour Comic I went in with no idea. When the timer said “Go” I opened a dictionary and the first word I pointed to was the title and I went from there.
I recommend it to all artists.

AWE.SOME.
This was great! You had me falling out my chair with laughter with the Halfway Point Happy Dance on page 12 (erm, I mean page 13!). Thank you so much for sharing this Sonny…especially with your crazy schedule.
The idea of drawing 24 pages in 24 hours is really intriguing. I’m not an artist, but I used to write what I called “spontaneous short stories” where I gave myself 30 minutes to write a short story…everything had to be on the fly, no edits, no changes allowed and only spelling could be corrected later. The results were…ahem…interesting.
Wow, Sonny, I’m impressed. Absolutely fantastic job on this thing.
Hmm…once I finish up my Designing Graphic Novels course this semester and put the finishing touches on the one I’m doing right now, I’ll have to give the challenge a shot.
it was an awsome comic. the flower was super cute and evil. Thanks for sharing it.
Why am I having deja vu’? Hmmmmm…..anyway…NIIIIIIIIIIIICE!
Haha, great job! I love that flower, will it continue to show up every once in a while?
Smarmodon- Thanks!
E. Ritchie- That sounds like exactly the same spirit. You should do it 24 hours straight and come out with a novel
Cyberlink420- I’m more impressed that there exists a Designing Graphic Novels course. When I was in college I dropped out when I decided to become a cartoonist. Once you had your basic design and drawing classes out of the way they really had nothing left to offer for aspiring comic book artists.
Yikes, 24 hours straight…as I’m just now almost fully recovered from a super nastybad case of carpal tunnel, my hands hurt just thinking about that much typing! You must have drank a lot of coffee…
Oddly enough I did write a novel once…but I think my crappy spontaneous stories were better…which is a sad but true state of affairs. Best to leave such things to the professionals anyway.
Sonny – Yeah, it’s actually being offered for the first time this year. So far it’s been going pretty well; we meet once a week for about three hours. The first few weeks are spent coming up with story ideas, modeling sheets, character trading cards, and the like. Once that’s all done, we pretty much spend the remaining few months storyboarding and drawing our final project: a full-length 24-page graphic novel.
My novel’s going to be a horror parody where two webcomic artists get invited to a convention and get trapped there by their maniacal “biggest fan”. I’ve got the cover page done, and I’m about 6 pages into the actual story; it’s coming along great so far.
*le gasp* AN UPDATE! 8D I’mma so happeh.
(psst) (It’s “should’ve”.)
This is good stuff. The random interjections from inanimate objects and the flowers are hilarious, and in a way, it’s a very philosophical strip. The dragon is especially impressive. ^n_n^
Thanks for sharing this.
Happy Thanksgiving, Sonny. I still check regularly in hopes you’ll update. Let me know how you’re doing. Drop me an e-mail or something
Also I just got my own webcomic up and going. Check it out!
Came back, Merry Christmas, and after a rereading of this one I’m not so disappointed at the lack of an update.
We know you’ll come back when you get bored. /e grins, ducks, and runs.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Sonny. Still checking in, hoping for a surprise.
Make me give up on you, Sonny, I dare you.
Happy June, Sonny.
